President Obama in August issued an executive order, directing agencies to begin taking steps to shore up gaps in safety in response to the Texas blast, which obliterated portions of the town of West, and killed 15 people. 

The Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Homeland Security and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration have until Halloween to identify measures to identify measures to improve safety.

Their recommendations are a likely precursor to new regulations, long sought by watchdog groups and some in Congress.

As part of its campaign, the coalition issued a video showing images from disasters, overdubbed with excerpts of Obama speaking at a memorial for those killed in the Texas explosion.

The video also includes video of Obama and Vice President Biden, as senators, speaking in support of stronger protections, as well as a clip of the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), who championed chemical safety regulation reform before his death this year.

The video urges supporters to call the White House to press the case for action.

It comes a week after the group released polling showing that most Americans back the push for stronger safeguards in the chemical industry.
