Clinton endorses in member-vs.-member Democratic primary

Former President Clinton endorsed Rep. Mark Critz (D-Pa.) over Rep. Jason Altmire (D-Pa.) Thursday, a huge boost for Critz ahead of the April 24 primary.

"I am proud to endorse Mark Critz for Congress," said Clinton. "I know that Mark will continue his work to create jobs, strengthen the middle class, to protect Social Security and Medicare, and do what is right for western Pennsylvania and our nation."

Clinton joins nearly every major union in throwing its support behind Critz, who started the race as a major underdog because much of the new district is Altmire's old territory. Critz immediately released a new ad featuring the Clinton endorsement and slamming Altmire for distorting his voting record.
