West decries ad depicting him punching women

The ad depicts a caricature of West, who is black, punching an elderly white woman and taking money from a middle-class black family. A voiceover lays out the ways West's policies hurt women, seniors and middle-class families and implores viewers to "knock him out of Congress, once and for all."

It's been decried by a number of conservative websites as racist and inappropriate, a charge taken up by West himself in a statement in which he condemned the ad as "reprehensible" and "classless."

"It plays on stereotypes and fear to divide Americans, and it cheapens the very real and tragic occurrences of violence against women and seniors," he said.
