Midterms 2022: Is there a red wave building?

Democrats are facing a tough road ahead of November’s midterm elections as they look to maintain control of the House and Senate.

The president’s political party often loses seats during his first midterm election, but that’s not the only factor out of favor with Democrats. Member retirements and an incomplete set of legislative achievements pose a serious problem for Democratic leaders.

The Hill’s Julia Manchester explains how these factors, record inflation, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic are shifting the tide away from Democrats.
