Rep. Waters: Tea party can go 'straight to hell'

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) told frustrated voters that the tea party could "go straight to hell" at a town hall meeting in Ingelwood, California over the weekend.

Waters has been attending jobs fairs across the country with the Congressional Black Caucus during the August recess from Congress. She has been voicing concerns in the African American community over high unemployment and a lack of opportunity.

"Im not afraid of anybody. This is a tough day. You can't be intimidated, you can't be frightened, as far as I'm concerned the Tea party can go straight to hell," said Waters to cheers in the crowd.

More than a thousand people attended the meeting to express their frustration over jobs and the economy at a standing room only meeting, reported KABC in Los Angeles.

Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) and Rep. Laura Richardson (D-Calif.) also attended the event at Inglewood High School Saturday. The three congresswomen announced a large jobs fair in Los Angeles, which is scheduled for the end of the month.
