LIVE: Obama welcomes Red Sox to White House

President Obama will welcome the Boston Red Sox to the White House on Tuesday to celebrate the team's 2013 World Series championship.

The team is likely to receive a hero's welcome in the West Wing, where a sizable number of staffers hail from New England.

Presidential photographer and Massachusetts native Pete Souza attended at least one of the World Series games, and could be spotted behind the Boston on-deck circle snapping photographs.

And White House press secretary Jay Carney wore a Red Sox hat for his regular press briefing the day after Boston clinched the title.

"What a great team! What a great win! What a lot of fun! What an amazing baseball player David Ortiz is!" Carney said.
