The Capitol Christmas Tree is in town

Christmas came early on Capitol Hill with the arrival Friday of the 2014 Capitol Christmas Tree.

The giant white spruce embarked on a 2,000-mile journey from the Chippewa National Forest near Cass Lake, Minn., and making stops in 30 communities before getting to Washington.

The tree will feature 10,000 ornaments made by Minnesotan school children, and will be on display following a Dec. 2 lighting ceremony.
