Arming and training rebels will fail, expert says

White House plans to accelerate the arming and training of Syrian rebels in the fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria will not succeed, says an expert on terror groups.

“I think it will be exceptionally difficult to find and vet and train 5,000 to 15,000 individuals,” said Tom Sanderson of the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

He also noted that ISIS has battlefield experience, and argued it will be difficult to find people who want to fight against them.
