Cruz refuses to attack Trump

Republican presidential candidates, congressional leaders and state party officials are attacking GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump for his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. — with a notable exception: Sen. Ted Cruz.

"I disagree with that proposal. ... A lot of our friends here have encouraged me to criticize and attack Donald Trump — I'm not interested in doing so," the Texas Republican told reporters in the U.S. Capitol Tuesday morning.

The Hill's Molly K. Hooper reports on Cruz's response to the provocative proposal as he gains ground on Trump in the polls.
