Celebs to sing 'What the World Needs Now' at Dem convention

An eclectic mix of celebrities — including Debra Messing, Broadway star Idina Menzel, Darren Criss of "Glee" and "Spin City" actor Richard Kind — is taking to the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia to perform "What the World Needs Now Is Love."

ITK eyed the group rehearsing for the number on Wednesday to applause from some delegates gathered in the audience.

Last month, several Broadway veterans banded together to record a version of the 1965 tune to benefit victims of the shooting at an Orlando, Fla., gay nightclub.
