Former Donald Trump adviser Barry Bennett has a word of caution for Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.): Your leadership role may be in jeopardy.
Bennett told The Hill that the House Freedom Caucus will grow after the election, creating a precarious situation for Ryan.
“There's no doubt that the Freedom Caucus is getting bigger,” he said. “It only takes 40 guys to say we’re not gonna vote for you and suddenly you can’t get elected Speaker."
Trump on Tuesday night told Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly that Ryan “would be in a different position” if Trump wins the presidency. He attacked the Speaker for ostensibly revoking his support for Trump during a conference call with rank-and-file GOP lawmakers.
