“I was only going to fire a couple of shots if no one confronted me,” Christopher Wade Briggs told White House police, according to court documents obtained by an NBC News affiliate in Washington.

A shirtless Briggs was arrested at a Secret Service booth about a block from the North Lawn of the White House after an officer allegedly saw him take a .45-calibur handgun out of his backpack and attach it to his belt.

The firearm was loaded with 14 rounds, including one in the chamber, and Briggs was also in possession of two magazines loaded with 13 bullets each, 171 back-up rounds and two hunting knives, documents showed.
