Weiner: 'Quit isn't the way we roll'

New York mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner (D) on Tuesday released a new campaign video in which he stridently refused to abandon his campaign despite falling poll numbers and increasing suggestions that he withdraw.

“Quit isn’t the way we roll in New York City,” the former congressman says in the minute-long video, adding that “we fight through tough things, we’re a tough city.”

Weiner’s campaign has been flagging ever since last week, when he admitted that he continued sending salacious text messages to women even after his resignation from Congress in 2011. Once at the top of the polls, he has tumbled to 4th place in the Democratic field and trails leader Christine Quinn by 11 points. Over the weekend, his campaign manager quit.

Weiner has felt pressure from Democratic politicians to withdraw, including reportedly from Bill and Hillary Clinton, who are close to Weiner's wife, Huma Abedin. In the video, Weiner alludes to this pressure, but dismisses it.

“They don’t know New York, and they certainly don’t know me,” he says.
