WATCH: GOP senator on Trump’s ‘Nazi’ remark: He has a ‘sense of humor’

Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) on Thursday defended Donald Trump after the president-elect invoked Nazi Germany in slamming the intelligence community.

“Give him a break … he has a sense of humor,” Inhofe told reporters when asked to respond to Trump’s remarks from a Wednesday press conference.

“Not many people [are] saying the things he says … he’s still the nominee,” Inhofe added.

Trump accused the intelligence community of leaking a “fake” dossier that linked him to Russia during his press conference Wednesday, his first in six months.

{mosads}“I think it was disgraceful that the intelligence agencies allowed any information that turned out to be so false and a disgrace … and that’s something that Nazi Germany would have done and did do,” Trump said.

The remark came after Trump sent a tweet blasting intelligence agencies for leaking “fake news,” adding, “One last shot at me. Are we living in Nazi Germany?”

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C), who noted that he has been “tough” on the intelligence community in the past, took a different tact on Trump’s comparison.

“The last thing I would say about anybody working in the intelligence community is to compare them to Nazi Germany … that was just really unfair,” Graham.
