Durbin predicts government shutdown

The No. 2-ranking Senate Democrat believes the government will shut down at midnight on Monday.
{mosads}Asked by CBS “Face The Nation” host Bob Schieffer if he feared that the government will shutdown, Senate assistant leader Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) responded, “I do. I do.”
“We know what’s going to happen, the House position is going to be rejected again and we’re going to face the prospect of the government shutting down come midnight Monday night/Tuesday morning,” Durbin said.
Calling it a “shutdown strategy,” Durbin accused the Republicans of being “hell bent” on shutting down the government.
Durbin conceded that ObamaCare could benefit from changes, but he said that wasn’t going to happen in a must-pass bill to fund the government.
“I’m willing to look at that, but not with a gun to my head,” Durbin said of repealing the medical device tax that House Republicans included in the funding bill sent to the Senate early Sunday.
